Hardly anyone knows Europe's arms industry as well as former Airbus boss Thomas Enders. Today, he is involved in security policy and has two urgent pieces of advice
Capital: Mr. Enders, in 2012, you were CEO of EADS, now Airbus, and attempted to forge a European defense company. You wanted to merge EADS's defense division with the British defense giant BAE Systems. The project failed – do you still regret that? THOMAS ENDERS: Of course! If we had created this connection between the Germans, French, Spanish, and British, the situation would have been completely different from what we have today. European defense cooperation would have been made significantly easier.
